YEGIP AND WAINE: A NEW POWER EMERGES IN THE HUNTERS ENGINE ROOM

From Banz Royals to PNG Hunters; Samuel Yegip and Emmanuel Waine continues to power and propell the engine room.

After starring for the Banz Royals in the 2014 season in which they went on to win local competition’s grand final. The pair were rewarded for their efforts and were selected in the Waghi Tumbes 2015 Digicel Cup squad.

In 2019 they teamed up again with the Hela Wigmen team that was beaten by the Snax Tigers in the grand final. It was the year Waine announced his arrival in the PNG national stage while Yegip played his part.

Waine returned home to the Tumbes but Yegip remained with the Wigmen in 2020. Yegip put together his best year yet and scored the match winner in the grand final to beat the Tigers and avenge their 2019’s loss.

Both forwards are explosive. They run and tackle with intent and they will once again pair up in the Hunters forward pack to face the Falcons this weekend.

If they continue on their current form, a place in the 2021 Kumul World Cup team looks possible.
