The 2021/2022 NCD Governor’s Cup Challenge will be staged on the first week of February, 2022.
The office of the Controller has given the organising committee green light for preparations until end of this month to monitor the situation incase of an outbreak during the Festive Season celebrations.
Registration will start next week. Dates and venue of the registration will formally be announced on the media.
Team Registration for Men’s Division is K1000 and Women’s Division K500. Limited space are available so priority will go to community based teams.
For this year we group the tournament into four groups or electorates, Moresby Northwest, Moresby Northeast, Moresby South and Motu Koitabu. We allow 12 men’s team in each groups except for women division.
The top four in each group will advance to the final playoff. All teams and players must be community based teams. That includes women division.
NCD Governor Hon. Powes Parkop as the Patron is continuing to support the tournament which has resulted in the off-season tournament getting bigger and better every year.
The Governor’s Cup is managed and run by the NCDC Sport Division and the Governor’s Office and is part of City’s Flagship Program that Hon. Governor Parkop has initiated for us to include Motu Koitabu and Women’s Division for everyone to equally participate in the tournament to unite them during festive seasons to celebrate in unity.
Due to the current situation that we are in now, Covid-19 Niupla Pasin Protocol and Rugby League Banis Protocol will be strictly followed. All players and officials must be vaccinated or tested 3 days before the tournament.
We will not tolerate teams with violent behaviour in the last tournament. Let us cooperate and organize our teams to promote rugby league, the greatest game of all.
