Nationally owned Finance Company Handy Finance Limited has come on board to support the Southern Highlands Provincial 9s Tournament’ with K2500 backing. The show piece event was originally planned to be hosted in early December 2021 but the Southern Highlands Provincial COVID-19 Task Force Committee Postponed the event to early January in 2022
Through a statement Handy Finance stated that as part of their “Social Corporate responsibility we are more than happy to assist and be a sponsor of SHP9s tournament in Mendi with K2,500. “
Handy Finance Ltd Operation Manager Mr. Bisiape Paul and Mendi Branch Manager Kelly Wepo presented the cheque on behalf of Handy Finance Limited to the SHP 9s Co-Coordinator Nenga Nandape and PNGNRLC Oofficer Saku Ank at their main office in Port Moresby.
“It is our mission by way of this sponsorship which is to promote community participation and good citizenship including physical and mental development with such engagements. Like many other sports, rugby league also strengthens our partnership and bring communities together in many ways,” said Handy Finance Mendi Branch Manager Kelly Wepo.
Mr. Nandape on behalf of the SHP 9s Tournament’ Organisers, participating teams and the people of Southern Highlands thanked Handy Finance for their timely support.
“The Tournament is growing in size and stature every year and to have Handy Finance come on board to support us is a timely boost.
“We are organising this national tournament not only to expose the raw talents in our Province but also to give confidence that Southern Highlands is capable of hosting big events such as this that promotes peace and progress

The event is set to be staged at Momei oval in the heart of Mendi town on the 13-16th of January 2022 and interest is coming from all over the nation. SHP 9s Tournament’ has become a national tournament from its humble beginnings and it will only continue to get bigger with growing support.
