The National Airports Corporation was among five State aviation agencies under the Ministry of Civil Aviation who officially farewelled out-going Minister Hon. Wake Goi and welcome aboard his successor, Hon. Douglas Tomuriesa last Friday.
Goi was praised by the industry for his leadership in enabling stability during his tenure, instrumental in progressing development and positive change that was needed in the Civil Aviation industry.
โFor the first time in the last 10 years weโve had stability, one thing we thank you for,โ said Jacob Anga, NAC Board Chairman.
Minister Wake Goi who was Minister for Civil Aviation since March 2025, handed over Office to his colleague Minister Douglas Tomuriesa, encouraging continuity of the great progress already made.
โYou (line State agencies) have all done the hard yards and have made me a proud man. The Civil Aviation & Safety Authority/ CASA and its great performance on the airport safety implementation score by ICAO placing PNG at the top is one, and the great progress on airport upgrades by NAC another of many I am happy to see elevated as such.โ
Minister Goi now takes up the Ministry for Commerce & Industry and has passed the baton to incoming Civil Aviation Minister Tomuriesa who assured he was ready to run with a priority two areas for starters;
– Working to fulfill Governmentโs Policy and Agenda for Civil Aviation.
– To ensure planes, infrastructure and facilities remain safe for public use.
โI feel comforted knowing I have a great team behind me, and I want to commend my Minister colleague for his leadership in bringing the ship this far. I will take the challenge to further the negotiations, further the discussions and further the development to the next level.โ
The handover takeover was signified by the presentation of Minister Wake Goiโs report on achievements during his tenure to Minister Douglas Tomuriesa.
Agencies under the Ministry of Civil Aviation who witnessed the occasion included the National Airports Corporation, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea, Niusky Pacific Limited, the Accident Investigation Commission and not-for-profit partner the Rural Airstrip Agency.
